Professional Photographer Leadership Award presented by the United Nations ATLANTA-The International Photographic Council (IPC), a non-governmental organization (NGO) of the United Nations, has announced the recipients of its 9th annual IPC Professional Photographer Leadership Awards, including Robert (Bob) D. Lloyd, a Professional Photographers of America (PPA) member. The winners were recognized at the IPC's "International Professional Photographer's Month" luncheon at the United Nations in New York City on Thursday, May 10th at 11:30 a.m.
Ann Monteith, PPA Past President and Chairman of the Board said, "When the PPA Board of Directors chooses a recipient of this prestigious award, we look for someone who is more than just a great photographer: we look for a leader who has made significant contributions to the professional photographic industry and to our association. Bob Lloyd is just that type of person." Lloyd led PPA through some difficult times into a period of unprecedented prosperity. As president and chairman of the PPA Board of Directors, he and his wife, Edna, "set an example of leadership and cordiality that is not likely to be matched. Bob's character alone makes him a worthy recipient of the IPC Award," added Monteith. Along with his leadership roles in PPA and Professional Photographers of Illinois, Lloyd had many other services to recommend him. He represented PPA in Canada, England, Ireland, France, Italy, Mexico, China and throughout the US. He is a highly recognized author and instructor, and he has even lobbied on Capital Hill for issues like copyright and health care.
"When Bob speaks in a meeting, everyone gets quiet and leans forward," notes Jack Reznicki, PPA's current President. "I've always been grateful for his insights and point of view when I served on PPA's Board of Directors with him. Bob's leadership at a critical time for PPA is a template I am trying to emulate during my presidency this year."
